Bad Sex Stories with Heather Corinna: Fucking While Feminist Episode 40

WE’RE BACK. Sorry for the surprise hiatus — it was a surprise to me too! But it’s a new year now, and a great time to start talking about sex & feminism again.

To apologize for the absence (and to help ease all of us into 2014), I offer you this most delectable Very Special Episode of Fucking While Feminist, in which (Scarleteen founder and director) Heather Corinna and I, while at the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit, got drunk in our hotel room and told each other our most hilarious bad sex stories. And a few nice ones. There are a few sound issues since the sound engineer (me) was drunk, but I’m betting you won’t mind. Happy New Year!

Durham Castle Lecture Series: Jaclyn Friendman

30th April 2014, 19:45, Great Hall, Durham Castle,

Beyond Consent: Sexual Liberation, Sexual Violence and Human Rights

Media manipulation, religious propaganda, laws, government institutions and more all conspire to control and define our sexuality, often leaving us alienated from our own desires and boundaries. These external limits can leave us living in confusion, denial, and fear, making us easily manipulated by those who want to sell us products as well as those who want to do physical violence to us. Dominant models of sexuality often alienate us from each other as well, encouraging us to police each other rather than work together for productive, mutually beneficial change. Friedman will propose multiple ways to reverse the effects of sexualization and sexual violence by resisting and transforming popular and limiting sexual paradigms, from the simple (but difficult) radical act of reclaiming one’s authentic sexuality, to the movement to locate sexual freedom among our universal human rights.

All of the lectures in the series are free and open to all.

Seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Doors will open from 7.45pm.
Lectures will begin at 8pm, with questions for the speaker at 9pm.

Know Your IX: Fucking While Feminist Episode 39

A decade or two from now, we may look back on this moment as a turning point for efforts to reduce sexual violence on campus. Dana Bolger & Alexandra Brodsky are part of the reason why, and they join Jaclyn this week to talk about why and how students are now organizing across campuses and state lines to change the status quo of rape on campus, and Know Your IX, the legal resource project (just launched last week!) for students who want to press their campus administrations to do a better job preventing and punishing sexual assault.
